The Pacific University Environmental Club will be hosting the "2nd Annual Peak Oil Forum at Pacific".
Partnering with Washington County Peak Oil, the event will present the film, "The Myths Of Biofuels", followed by a panel discussion.
"The Myths of Biofuels" is a filmed presentation made in San Francisco last year by Dr. David Fridley, staff scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley, Calif), and a member of the peak oil study group of San Francisco Oil Awareness.

Mr. Fridley is the leader of the China Energy Group at Lawrence Berkeley Labs where his research involves extensive collaboration with the Chinese on end-use energy efficiency, industrial energy use, government energy management programs, data compilation and analysis, and both medium and long term energy policy research.
He discusses the assorted myths and misperceptions surrounding the rush to manufacture biofuels as a substitute for fossil fuels. Dr. Fridley further discussed common misinformation in the media about biofuels, and, with a focus on the energy, environmental and ecological science of biofuels and their production, analyzes the broad range of limits to their production and use. He also addresses the environmental and economic consequences of the industry.
David spent 25 years working and living in China, and leading the China Energy Project, primarily in the area of petroleum supply and demand, refinery analysis and modeling, and international oil trade and energy policy. He has additionally worked as Business Development Manager for Caltex China.
The presentation is open to the public and there is no entrance fee.
