Alternative outreach medium: webcomics!

Today i saw a new webcomic called Luz: Girl of the Knowing, about a little girl who decides to collect all the information she can in order to prepare for life after peak oil. This seems like a brilliant little piece of outreach. I know lots of people who a) are aware of peak oil but don't feel like they can do anything, and b) read webcomics.

It's a less threatening approach than throwing a lot of numbers at people who already pretty much believe: instead giving them well-drawn, regular tidbits of knowledge that help sketch the variety of skills that we'll need while at the same time focusing on the pretty darn easy (pull weeds and squish bugs!). It might be a gateway for people to start thinking about what they can do to prepare themselves. When they need harder information, they'll be able to seek it out themselves -- notebook in hand.

I also think it's worth noting, and important to the message, that Luz is non-white.
