The Beaverton School District is seeking interested individuals to serve on the Advisory Committee for Sustainability. The purpose of the committee is to provide recommendations to the district in its planning and routine operations consistent with the district’s sustainability policy.
Applications are being accepted to fill one parent/community partner position. The applicant should be either a parent of a BSD student or a community partner with relevant expertise in the areas of sustainability.
The committee is comprised of parent/community partner positions, district school staff positions and district central office positions.
The committee meets once per month from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., on the second or third Monday of the month.
The deadline to apply is Feb. 4. Interested community members should submit a letter of interest and resume to: Beaverton School District Communications & Community Involvement Dept., 16550 S.W. Letters of interest and resumes should address the following issues:
* The applicant’s interest in becoming a committee member.
* How the applicant’s participation will contribute to the committee’s work.
* Any previous or current work the applicants has in the area of sustainability.
Areas in which the Sustainability Committee will advise district staff include curriculum, design and construction of buildings, energy conservation, green purchasing, reduction of toxic materials, sustainable food, transportation, waste prevention, and recycling and water conservation.
