Maryland My Maryland

I've been waiting for a Maryland group to get active or start up near me. It's taking too long.

But it seems there are enough Marylanders expressing interest in relocalization that we might form a general central Maryland group to help incubate larger local groups.

I can imagine us rotating meetings through our individual towns for the purpose of helping each local contact person recruit more local members. The local contact person could reserve a table at their mall or a campus or an outdoor festival [or outside a movie theater showing a certain carbon consequence-related film, hint hint] and the rest of us would show up to help educate passersby and attract more local members.

I am sure that the post carbon institute outpost starter kits provide more ideas once local groups materialize from our efforts. We can even arrange & advertise our own public showings of the movie End of Suburbia, coming to your town!

But no more waiting for more people from our individual towns to sign up on line before we act. We can do this now.

Imagine a Sunday lunch in Annapolis for our first organizational meeting. Bring the spouse/s.o./kids; they can play tourist or lunch with us. We can arrange subsequent meetings in each of our towns.

If you are a Marylander concerned about your community's post carbon future, then register here as a member, click on my profile, call the cell phone with the Sunday calendar dates you can lunch in Annapolis, and let's help you get your Maryland town relocalized.
