Mixed Use Developments

Our communities are not sustainable when individuals must rely on automobiles to get everything done. The damage caused by our automobile culture makes the headlines everyday. People love the freedoms of our automobile culture, and people ignore the consequences of our automobile culture.

Rather than every building having one function, we can minimize use of automobiles by having multi-function buildings. Rather than having homes seperate from workplaces, we can emphasize working from home using modern technologies. Rather than having production seperate from consumption, we can emphasive prosumption by having people produce what they consume.

Sustainable Communities

The consequences of our oil addiction are becoming increasingly obvious. Global Warming is creating record breaking weather events, conflict in oil rich nations is threatening global stability, and fuel costs are remaining dangerously high. People are complaining about the consequences of our oil addiction, but rarely do people complain about our oil addiction.

Ending our oil addiction requires changing how we get things done. Rather than needing an automobile to get everything done, we'll need to change our communities to emphasize close proximity and public transit. The Internet must become the primary place to shop, learn, and earn.
