We just wanted to leave a message to all members of the Outpost 322, that we are no longer running this Outpost - it is simply renamed Seaford, Uk should anyone else want to carry on maybe it could be renamed again? We have a different path now to that of Post Carbon but we hope that many of you will look around for another Outpost to join, I believe there is another Outpost in the UK. I hope any resources we have left on this Outpost will be useful to people.
We've been waiting almost 6 months for the new gold based currency to come online and it's almost here!
The founder edition coins have been minted and we are now waiting for the notes to be printed so that we can use them for the LETS - we will tell all when we are more operational and ready to go, we are making sure everythings in place before we announce it as these projects can get scuppered before they start if some people have their way...
This will be a world wide currency so the advantages of using it in a LETS is that you will be able to go to any LETS that is using it and offer services etc - we hope that many of the outposts will use it as a basis for starting their own LETS in their town.
Apologies if this information is common knowledge but I just found a gold-mine of a website!!!

Oil = a game of hangman - you lose, we all lose
By Kim Dixon
Lets play a game of hangman.
My word for you to guess has 3 letters, that's a lot of letters to go through to get to the word and you'll probably be 'hanged' before you guess it, the picture drawn out for you in graphic detail - why they never just gave the person 12 or so chances to guess the word without having to draw a picture I'm very curious to know! Those who know me would say that was easy - it's OIL, well that's because they know me and get sick of me talking about it but oil depletion is a little like the game 'Hangman'.

Kim & Peter at Outpost 322 wishes everyone a very merry Christmas and an active New Year!
Christmas comes but once a year
and we hope it's full of cheer
as you wrap your bird in foil
just remember the term 'peak oil'
Everyones ovens are burning bright
Not a thought of peak in sight
Exchange of gifts, money spent
Credit cards at full dent
So a new resolution this coming year
To tell others of the coming fear
To make a difference in this life
Requires courage, action and possible strife
But you will feel that you have achieved
Your conscience and soul will be relieved
You are alive after all
Hello
I just wanted to say welcome to all new Outpost 322 members - If you want to be contacted by us or any other person then go to your 'account' and set up your email. 322 has a bulletin which you might like to receive.

A member of the bton Peak Oil Group has recommended this site. I especially like the compost toilet! Everyone that has a garden should build one - it sure would save energy and water ( maybe summer use only??):)
http://www.lowimpact.org/ and there's also
which looks at emergency measures such as water purification, solar ovens etc
Is anyone willing to get in contact via Skype?
Perhaps a subject could be chosen each week and then up to 48 people could join the discussion,I know it's coming up for Christmas, but maybe in the New Year.
Either way it's a great way to communicate - we can't build without communication.
So I'll start.

Looking forward to adding people to my contact list.
Outpost 322 are starting an internet based LET Scheme ( OC Portal) and had been thinking of not using local currency but a 'virtual' point system instead - we have had many email conversations with Stephen from the Sweden Outpost, he was trying to convince us that local currency was a positive move - we just weren't that keen on photocopied vouchers etc, we did think that we might be able to transcend economics. Maybe we might? Well,we thought about it - could we find another way to include local currency and then stumbled on another idea that could work really well and it's captivated our Outpost Members... and it could be a local currency in the UK.
It's great to hear about Post Carbon getting that major grant - has anyone thought about setting up a video conferencing so that people don't have to travel half-way round the world to attend conferences etc?
It should be possible as it's not exactely new technology!
It does seem ridiculous that people who are worried about energy consumption fly around the world to tell others...
What do people feel about it?
Blair...You can't trust anything that comes out of the mouth of this man, but then most of us didn't anyway - and we still allow him to rule us, yes RULE - I'm talking about the fact that he has now changed his mind about the Kyoto Protocol/International Treaties.
He now sides with Bush. So all the G8 stuff was a bluff? It seems so. He seems to be a perpetual liar and there's nothing we can do about it.
I didn't think at first that scalar weapon technology was a possibility but my mind is on overdrive just recently. The thought that we have the capability to control the weather is so mind-boggling and scary that I feel like screaming a passage from the psalms- let the mountains cover me- trouble is I'm afraid to even think it in case it is arranged...

I don’t know about you but I’m getting rather worried about what is happening with the stranded people of New Orleans, it seems to me that we heard the word evacuation, evacuation, evacuation but that is not what actually happened. To evacuate a town usually means that the military are at hand to help get out the sick and elderly but there wasn’t help in sight before or after, people were just told to leave. Only those who could afford a car could attempt an escape and many thousands of others had no chance.
No aid was forthcoming for days whilst people were herded together in terribly crowded conditions – doesn’t this remind you of something? Deserted towns? Concentration camps? Nazism was not defeated after the 2nd world war – it just changed hands.
It would be very helpful if outpost members could think of any pros and cons of an EBay type Lets Scheme.
The exchange is 1hrs work for 1hrs work.
How could we involve people who are not on the Internet?
I look forward to the replies.
If it's successful then anyone can use it!I'll keep you posted on how it goes.
