"What a Way to Go" and "Awakening the Dreamer, Changing the Dream"

I wanted to post this commentary by a frustrated film maker.

It certainly lays out the challenge and difficulties we face with denial.
No one wants to really see this coming reality.
By the way, Cosmo's article from Jan. of 2006 was a great beginning for this.

Time to revisit and get the SN&R to do a follow-up??
I want to put this movie "What a Way to Go" in front of our local leaders, see if we can get them to take some action, formulate a plan, SOMEthing!!!

Here is another group looking at this, they do symnposia on the topic of Sustainability, Environmental Destruction, Social Injustice.
I'd like to host a Symposium here in Sacramento -- what do you think???

Human Power Generation...

Article below is about a Gym experimenting with human power generation.

One of the personal reasons I can't stand to exercise is that it's so worthless...

If I could make all that sweat GOOD for something, then I'd be more likely to do something about it! (It's why I like to bicycle or just work in the yard for exercise. I think at least SOME other people feel this way, too???)  Maybe this is a good way to motivate all those extra American pounds into kilowatt hours???  I can see future post-oil community centers with solar panels and/or wind generators and an "exercise salon" where you could also check your Email, charge your laptop or phone while you "workout"?
If your home energy generation is too expensive or inaccessible, this could be a viable future -- or maybe everyone will be busy and slim enough riding their bikes to get around and working on those backyard gardens?  Of course -- need to set up the infrastructure while gas is still under $100 a barrel...
