Workers Of The World Relax: The Simple Economics of Less Industrial Work
Alice MacKay Room, Vancouver Public Library, 350 West Georgia, 7:30p

As the earth’s population grows it has become obvious that humans are negatively impacting the environment. We seem more determined than ever to work harder and produce more stuff; we proudly break our backs to decrease the carrying capacity of the planet. So what is the solution? Conrad Schmidt’s book proposes the solution lies in the reduction of the industrial work week. We would consume less, produce less, work less, pollute less and improve our lives.

Conrad Schmidt is an internationally known social and environmental activist. He is the author of Workers of the World Relax: the Simple Economics of Less Industrial Work, and director/producer of the documentary film, Five Ring Circus: the true cost of the Vancouver Olympic Games. He founded the Work Less Party, a civic, provincial and federal political party that advocates reducing the work week for the purpose of reducing our ecological footprint, while maintaining effective employment rates.
