Portland Fruit Tree Project
Empowering neighbors to share in the care and harvest of urban fruit and nut trees.

We have an abundance of fruit growing on trees in residential areas of Portland. But every year, thousands of pounds of this delicious organic food drops without being harvested, turning into a sticky mess in yards and sidewalks.

The Portland Fruit Tree Project organizes people in the Portland community to gather fruit before it falls, and make it available to those who need it most. We register fruit trees around the city, coordinate harvesting parties, and offer workshops in pruning & fruit preservation.

Register Your Fruit Tree!
Do you have a fruit tree? Are you unable to harvest all of the fruit? We can help!
- We coordinate volunteers to come and help you harvest your tree (In exchange, we ask that you share the fruit).
- We provide opportunities for you to learn about tree care and fruit preservation, so that you can make the most of your tree!
- Please contact us for a registration form.

Come to a Harvest Party!
Would you like FREE fruit - fresh, organic, and picked with your own two hands?
- Join us in harvesting and take home as much as you can eat!
- Help make fresh fruit available to those in need - a percentage of each harvest will go to a local food bank.
- Saturdays in August and September. Open to anyone!
- Click here for upcoming Harvesting Parties & Workshops.

Volunteer as a Fruit Tree Scout!
Have you seen trees dropping fruit in your neighborhood?
- Help us identify trees whose fruit isn’t being harvested!
- Invite your neighbors to register their trees and to participate in the PFTP!
- We provide a ‘Tree Scout Toolkit’ to volunteers.

Attend a Workshop!
Learn about tree care and/or fruit preservation!
- Winter pruning workshops
- Summer canning workshops
- Click here for upcoming Harvesting Parties & Workshops.
