Critical Mass

What

Critical Mass is a monthly bicycle ride to celebrate cycling and to assert cyclists' right to the road.

One Idea is to have comparatively short (30-40 minute ) rides Bristol, hopefully this will allow us to make our point and communicate effectively with other road users.

When

6:30pm on the last Friday of every month. Starting on January the 26th.

Where

Starting outside the Arnolfini, ending up at the Hatchet

Help

* Read about Traffic tactics and think about what role you can play to make the mass a safe and positive experience.

* Bring lot's of lights and reflective stuff.

* Print out 2 pages of bike strips and put them on bikes.

* Print out and bring 20 leaflets to hand out on the mass.

File Attachments
Bike Strips - For putting on parked bikes (around top tube, handlebars, etc.)
Poster - For advertising the ride.
Leaflet - For handing out to drivers and passers-by during the ride.

26th Guelph Organics Conference

I found this very exciting conference agenda tonight. Actually I spent time browsing the proceedings from previous years on their website http://www.guelphorganicconf.ca/. Tony and Fran McQuail have been presenters there.
Here's the highlighted program:
26th Organics Conference, University of Guelph, Jan 25 to 28th. "Next Generation Organics"
Our theme for this year - with a focus on youth, local organics, and the survival of a movement started by pioneers.

Four full days of incredible workshops and seminars-novice to expert...an outstanding trade show filled with organic exhibits...a public forum... and of course the best food anywhere !

Organic Production Research
OACC presents a seminar on organic crop, soil and livestock research from across Canada. There will be about 8 talks of 20 minutes each, selected from the call for papers. A poster session will accompany this seminar & will be on view all weekend in UC103 & on the Trade Expo floor.
Friday Morning Seminars
"Sustainability & Organic Agriculture" by The 4th Annual Conference for Social Research in Organic Agriculture. This conference will highlight social-science research in the area of food, organic agriculture and future trends. It will feature eight talks of about 20 minutes each, selected from the call for papers.

"The Seedsavers Forum"
An EFAO speaker will give an opening address to expose the prime challenges & issues around organic seed faced by vegetable growers & market gardeners.
Then, numerous seed producers & seed advocacy groups & marketers will present & discuss: communicating info on seed breeding/saving, germination rates, marketing, heritage vs. hybrid, propagation, GMO's.
