David is a New York State Certified Technology Education educator and the President of Nature's Technology Research Family. He is a freelance Energy Educator with a little over 17 years in public education. He left public education to focus on Energy and to develop an “Energy Education Road Show”, including the energy bike, that he plans to present to schools and community groups throughout the state. David Borton brings a demonstration of his solar bicycle. David received a PhD. from Rensselaer in 1972. As a Research Associate he studied solar concentrators and high flux solar receivers, doing sponsored research by the then federal Energy and Research Development Agency, ERDA (now the Department of Energy, DOE) and the New York State ERDA, NYSERDA. In order to commercialize solar energy, David founded Sustainable Energy Systems, Inc., in early 1993. Since 1995 David has been traveling to India to transfer solar power technologies to local industries. David is also an Adjunct Professor at Rensselaer where he teaches “ Solar Devices and Energy" in the Mechanical Engineering Department.
