Nourishing a Heart of Wildness in a Fragmented World

A Weekend Retreat in Whatcom County
inspired by the work of John Seed and Joanna Macy. The retreat will be held at Blue Mountain Farm on April 5 and 6. The intention is to come together in community on the land to nourish our hearts and spirits in meeting the challenges of our times.

April 5 - 6, 2008
Saturday 1:00 pm to Sunday 5:00 pm

Facilitated by Emily Farrell and Anne Hayden

Amidst the disintegration and conflict in our world,
we may fear for the future of life itself.
How can we know where and how to make a stand?
Where can we find renewal, hope and empowerment?

During this weekend gathering we will invite Nature
to guide us in responding to our world,
and in nourishing the wild heart -- inside and out.

Participants will be guided into individual encounters with wild
nature, touching into the wisdom that connects us all.

These encounters will inform us as we gather in a Council of All Beings
to receive and speak from the perspectives of the Other-Than-Humans.
This work is inspired by Joanna Macy and John Seed.

We will close with a Council of Humans, to express our responses, share
our dreams and intentions, and support each other returning renewed to
our human community.

Emily Farrell, MA LMHC has a wholistic psychotherapy practice in
Bellingham. She has over 20 years experience with meditation,
spiritual practice, and ecopsychology, including training with Joanna
Macy. In addition to seeing clients, Emily teaches meditation classes
and guides retreats, supporting others in discovering and expressing
their inner richness

Anne Hayden, B.A. in Ecopsychology, has guided wilderness vision quests
since 1994, and facilitates nature-based retreats. Anne is deeply
committed to creating opportunities for others to embody their soul’s
gifts. She is a passionate, heartfelt and down-to-earth guide for the
journey.

Weekend Series Permaculture Design Course in Columbus, Ohio

February 22-24, Feb. 29-March 2, March 14-16, 28-30, April 11-13, 2008
Weekend Permaculture Design Course in Columbus, Ohio

“Help green the city and prepare for climate change. Build networks of support and empower yourself with the skills of ecological design as we search for the roots of permanent culture”

Description: Over five weekends (Friday evenings, Saturdays and Sundays), we will present the permaculture design curriculum with special emphasis on urban applications, strategies for changing climate and building local networks of support.

The class will implement at least one of the design projects by rehabilitating an old orchard as a forest garden on the 40-acre campus of the United Methodist Children’s Home in Worthington; helping to move this historic institution back to its agricultural roots and forward to a second century of sustainability.

The course is co-sponsored by Simply Living Columbus, and the Ohio Ecological Food and Farm Association, and UMCH. Some work-trade scholarships will be available.

Instructors: Peter Bane, Rhonda Baird and guests.
Cost: $895 including weekend lunches and course materials, $150 deposit required.
