Recumbent Bicycle RallySubmitted Sat, 2008-05-10 17:12 — toyotablackbox It is THE summer event for all us recumbent bicycle fans, and I can't wait for this exciting bike week event! It is next Friday night, may 16th starting at 6:30pm at the Julia Davis bandshell and will be a fun group ride going all the way out to lucky peak and back along various roadways for a total of 25 miles. I have been puttering all week finding things to attach to my recumbent bicycle and I even ordered myself a new light for the ride home. I'm hoping there will be a great turnout with lots of fun and different recumbents there, but the event is open to normal bikes too. We recently saw a new bike film compilation DVD that had a five minute special on recumbents titled "Bent" that was by far the best movie of the whole DVD and showed a recumbent rally in Oregon where everybody outfitted their bikes with glow sticks, flashing lights, and neon for the night ride and to say that seeing all that neon made me even more excited about this Friday would be an understatement. Hope to see you there! See: Event title: Start: End: Event Website: Key 1

W.E.D. Library DisplaySubmitted Mon, 2008-04-28 21:48 — ahazelwood Just in time to promote The Bundaberg 2008 World Environment Day Celebration on June 1, SustainaBundy will have a display in the Bundaberg Library. From the 12th to the 22nd May, a collection of SustainaBundy's books, magazines and DVDs on peak oil, climate change, sustainability, self sufficiency, organic gardening and more will be on display in the library entryway along with World Environment Day posters and information. Following World Environment Day, the contents of the display will become a part of the library collection, available for borrowing by anyone with a Bundaberg Library card. A list of the items will be available on the SustainaBundy website so borrowers can ask for them by name. The books, magazines and DVDs are from the personal collections of SustainaBundy members - the materials will do much more good if they're available to the wider community instead of just the owners, and we're happy to be able to use them to promote WED before they go into the library's inventory! Here is a small sample of items that may be on display. Watch this space for a complete list of borrowable items soon!
