Film Screening

Who Killed the Electric Car? is a 2006 documentary film that explores the birth, limited commercialization, and subsequent death of the battery electric vehicle in the United States, specifically the General Motors EV1 of the 1990s. The film explores the roles of automobile manufacturers, the oil industry, the US government, the Californian government, batteries, hydrogen vehicles, and consumers in limiting the development and adoption of this technology. Despite all the shock facts, Who Killed the Electric Car? ends on an optimistic note. The technology to produce revolutionary vehicles like the EV1 is not a dream. The technology is here now and the fight is for the future. With oil prices soaring and the environment on the verge of catastrophe, these problems are not going to go away. We can act now to change the way things are. Come and find out for your self at the School of Arts Building, Bourbong Street, 5:30pm, Monday 20th October. Ph 41591931 for further details.
