Getting started on Relocalize.net is quick and easy, in this guide you will learn how to create an account, log in and join a group. Upon visiting Relocalize.net, you will see an orange navigation bar on the right hand side. To create an account, find the User Login box, right below the map of post carbon groups. The images in this guide are simply that; images, do not try to click on them or fill in the text fields.

Here, you will see fields for both Username and Password, below the password field, there is a link to Create new account, click on it to begin the account registration process. Once you have clicked on the new account link, you will be brought to the User Account page and asked some questions.

As a security feature, you will be asked a Math Question, such as 10 + 5, this keeps out the spam bots and allows the real humans to register. Simply type in the answer to the math question in the field provided. After supplying the answer to the Math Question you will need to supply a username and your email address. These two fields are very important! You need to supply a valid email address in order for Relocalize.net to create your account and to verify you are human. Input your desired username and a valid email address, then move on to the Join A Group box below:

The Join A Group box is there to do just that; join a group! You can browse through this list and add as many groups as you wish, hold down the CTRL key and click to add more than one group. Each group you wish to join must be highlighted, click on one or several groups, then move on to the Contact Information box below. If you do not wish to join a group, or just want to join one later, click "I don't want to join a group yet" at the top. If you chose not to join a group here, it is a little harder to do later, so make sure to look through the easy scroll-down list and join any groups you are interested in now.

Here, you may input your contact and personal information, then click the create new account button at the very bottom to submit your account creation request. If you make any mistakes, you will be brought back to the User Account page and any errors will be marked in red. Once you have clicked the create new account button, you should be brought back to the Relocalize.net homepage with this message at the top:

To complete your registration, check the email address that you supplied at registration for an email from "Info" -- it will contain a link and instructions on how to activate your account. You can either manually log in with the username and password given to you in the email, or simply follow the link included. When you registered, a password was randomly generated for you, once you follow the login link, you will be asked to reset your password and input some more details.

Here, you will be able to input a password of your choice, a picture of yourself, a signature and email notification settings.

If you want to add a picture of yourself or change the default email notification settings, here is where you do it, move to the box below to edit your signature , allow a personal contact form and submit your changes.

That's it! Click on the Submit button at the bottom to finish. After you have submitted your changes, you will be brought to your user account page which will display your blog history and general information. If you didn't join a group on account creation, you'll need to do it from the My Groups box on the right hand side, right below the map of post carbon groups (if you're logged in, it's above the User Menu).

Click on the Find a group... link to start searching for a relevent group. From there, you can either click on the globe, then select what part of the world you're interested in looking at, or just visit the groups page and select a group. If you visit the Alphabetical List Of Groups page, you can view a list of all available groups and join them from there.

Click on a group you want to join and you will be taken to that group's page, on the upper right hand side, you will see an orange button that says "Join This Local Group"

After you have clicked on the Join This Group button, you will be asked to verify that you want to subscribe to that group, click the Subscribe button to complete the group joining process.

Most browsers will ask you if you want to save your login information for a web page, but if you ever need to manually log in, just type in your username and the password you chose in the User Login box on the right hand side and click Log In.
