This year we will focus on three complementary paths of action – awareness raising, infrastructure building and beginning local food production for our community.

Awareness raising – through talks, film viewings and sharing of literature we aim to raise the awareness of our community on peak oil and the urgency of required action. By the end of the year we aim for this awareness to be translated into a Transition Initiative beginning in our community, with a concrete plan of action having begun to be worked on. Finally, we will create a public space in the guesthouse for peak oil and climate change educational area for the guests, with books, periodicals and a notice board of upcoming events (talks, film viewings etc).
Infrastructure building – this year we will begin small, with demonstration projects of what may be possible. A demonstration compost toilet for use by the guests will be built, along with a small scale reed bed to process grey water from the kitchen. Also, a solar oven will be built to bake a portion of the communities bread.

Food production – For this summer growing season we aim to produce a majority of the communities (not including the guest house. Here we are referring to only the permanent residents) vegetables, eggs, honey and meat requirements, along with a significant part of dairy products. For the rest of our food requirements we aim to source wine and fruit locally and begin making links with local farmers for next year in order to source reliable supplies of grain, potatoes and fruit from nearby
