NOTE: If you can help in any way, please respond to Carrie Watson (contact info at bottom of message)
Dear Friends
We are in dire need of people to assist us with set-up and take down at
the organic farmers market. Up to now, we've had a dedicated core group
of volunteers doing all of the work to set up the cafe, refuse centre,
signage and info booth. The last couple of weekw a number of these
dedicated people were away on vacation and will be for the next number
of weeks. Without the extra help, Susan, Chris, Howard and I can not
set up and take everything down in a timely manner or without hurting
ourselves.
We absolutely need a minimum of 8 people for set up from 7-8 a.m. and
take down 1-2 p.m. We also need assistance with cooking in the cafe, as
Kelly and Susan have personal matters to attend to and can not be
present.
If the market does not have the help that is needed I will have no
choice but to not set up the cafe and sell our food. The cafe is a
major source of income and we rely heavily on that money to help offset
the costs for the entertainment, management's wages, our operating
costs, insurance and rental of Heritage Square. And until we reach
vendor capacity, this will be the case.
If the general public feels that the market is not worth the effort
then we will sadly see it fold. It would be a great shame, as the
vendors and customer base is growing each week and we have a very good
chance of getting funding to make the market self-sufficient in 2008.
Your comments would be very greatly appreciated. I would like to know
if you are willing and able to assist us this weekend or any weekend
and if not, do you think the market should cease to exist?
Respectfully,
Carrie Ann Watson
