Friday, November 30 ~~ Movie Night: "The Power of Community"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Livability screened this movie in October and
many of those in attendance were so inspired
by it that they want to see it again!! This
documentary film is described as "an
inspiration and success story about how Cuba
survived the loss of over half its oil
imports and the crash of their economy after
the fall of the Soviet Union in the 1990's."
After the screening, a lively and fertile
discussion ensued that generated a lot of
great ideas about applying some of the ideas
locally. If you missed it, please come out
on November 30 and prepare to be
energized!!
Where: Downward Dog Yoga Studio,
830 Rosita Road, Pacifica (in the former
Linda Mar School)
Hours: 7-9 p.m.
Saturday, December 8 ~~ Coastside Alternative Gift Fair
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Livability is sponsoring this annual event
that provides an alternative to traditional
holiday gift giving by allowing you to give
to specific charities in the name of a
recipient of your choice. You'll have an
opportunity to talk with charity
representatives, read their literature and
watch related videos. When you make a
donation, you'll receive a beautiful gift
card inscribed with the recipient's name as
well as a detailed description of what the
donation will accomplish. So far, 13
nonprofits have signed on. A partial list
includes: Pacifica Beach Coalition,
Project Smile, Hip Housing, La Casa de las
Madres, Mission Guatemala, Reptile Research,
Spindrift School of Performing Arts, Heifer
International, and Livability Project.

This is a fun event for the whole family!
Popular juggler Doug Nolan, Jonathan Harris &
friends, and others will provide
entertainment. Childcare and activities for
kids will allow parents to take their time
shopping and learning about the wonderful
work of these charities.

Where: Ocean Shore School (411
Oceana Blvd., Pacifica)
Hours: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Website:
www.coastsidegiftfair.org

If you're interested in volunteering at
the fair, we need your help. Please
