Cape Breton LETS.
Our group now has 21 paid up members. Three vendors at the Cape Breton Farmer's Market are members.
Community Garden, New Waterford.
Last year land was donated, land was cleared, vegetables were grown
and sold at the Cape Breton Farmer's Market.
Film Festival on Sustainability was held on Friday nights... (read more)

This year 73 students participated! Last year there were 44.
This year several Green thumb Kids and their parents came back with
some of their harvest which they sold to the regular customers at the market.
Both children and parents enjoyed the activity and learned so much about nature and growing their own... (read more)

Approximately nine Cape Breton LETS members shared supper and got to know each other on Saturday, November 4. A good time was had by all. People described what they had to offer and what they needed, and people told about the trades they had made.

Over the summer we had three meetings and then launched our Cape Breton LETS group. LETS stands for Local Exchange and Trading System. Our members decided that we would use Cape Breton Hours as our currency, rather than Green Dollars, as this is more respectful as it treats... (read more)

Organizers of a new program are hoping to grow interest among children in planting and taking care of their own vegetables.
