Portland Peak Oil, Portland Oregon

Group manager: Pam Leitch

Portland Peak Oil, www.portlandpeakoil.org, meets every single Wednesday night to discuss preparation on a city wide basis. We have speakers, general discussion and movies. Some of our more popular topics have been food storage, possible economic consequences, and a policy analyst from the Oregon Dept of Energy.

We have been meeting every week since June and the attendance at meetings is bewteen 20 and 80. We have 290 people on our announcements list.

We have small groups working on many projects such as outreach, a preparation group that has prepared an outline of ideas for preparing and is working a list of those in the neighborhoods who have essential skills.

Organizing at the neighborhood level has begun with several areas having potlucks.

As a Post Carbon Outpost, the Portland Permaculture Institute helps with Portland Peak Oil, teaches permaculture classes, and is working with the Food Policy Council to develop a pilot project to let citizens have access to city land for growing food. We also give public presentations on permaculture and peak oil and are preparing our property as a demonstration site.

Please see our web site http://www.portlandpermaculture.com.
