There is a citizens committee working on bringing Broad Band to the Tunbridge area. The committee thinks Broad Band access could allow some residents to do some of their work from home, others could develop their own businesses at home, others would just be entertained, others could gain education and collaborate with other like minded individuals. All of these outcomes would reduce fuel spent on travel and could improve our economic lot.
We are gathering information on people interested in using the service and ways of bringing the service to the area. Our ideal would be to supply the service free with as much speed as is possible and supply help in getting people able to use the service. This would require lots of volunteer effort, donations from citizens, businesses and perhaps a start up grant. It would be a wireless network. Another possibility is to link up with a commercial provider and help them find a customer base. This would take less effort but be pricey for the low income members and the just getting started ones.
Do you know any one with networking skills? How about radio transmitting and receiving? Would you help others learn to use email and the internet?
What are your thoughts on this project? Pass this information on to others.
