I happened to see this on the 'Events' part of the website but not in our local group part of the website. http://www.postcarbon.org/node/2706 Anyone know anything about this group ? I can't find anything. - Ben
Ben,
This group found me and solicited me to join. AFAICT, it is open to anyone who is convinced that Peak Oil is imminent and will have to be mitigated at some level.
I'm going to cut-n-paste the intro I received:
---- Begin cut-n-paste from Jim Welch ----
We've been holding pot luck gatherings once a month for about a year
and a half. We typically have between 15 and 20 people in
attendance. It just so happens that the next one will be this
Wednesday. I'll forward pass along the announcement.
We have a mailing list, discuss@hm.swapspace.com, with about 100
people on it. I would say about 30 of them are active. If you would
like to join send an empty message to discuss-subscribe@hm.swapspace.com.
We have an underutilized website at http://hm.swapspace.com. We have
recently developed a flyer. It should be on the website but it's
not. I vaguely recall volunteering to post it. I'll follow through on
that and get you a copy one way or another.
With few execeptions our group is progressive, environmentalist,
anti-war, and wary of global corporatism. On the whole we are a little
bit on the elderly side, but we may have some SUNYA interns working
for us shortly. We have several professors, several activists, and
several plain old concerned citizens such as myself.
In the fall we organized 3 task groups - projects, communcations and
funding. We also have a steering group. We are not currently funded.
----- End cut-n-paste -------------
The mailing list is pretty lively and informative. The website is dated and not very well maintained at this point.
Jim Z.
