Info Packet for my wife

My wife doesn't follow current events as much as I do. Though I have asked her to look into the peak oil phenomenon so she could give me some independent thinking, she is not yet willing to do so. I tried to collect basic information and basic actions in a concentrated information packet - it is a 5 page word document. Any feedback would be appreciated. If anyone finds it useful for themselves feel free to copy it as liberally as I copied others in making it. All this assumes I successfully get the file to attach to this post - if it doesn't and you want to look at it just email me.

Thanks,
Ben

Ben's wife

Ben's wife would like to say that she may not have all the details about current events but she is busy raising her two year old and dealing with a new baby on the way. She and her husband talk about oil every day. She just wishes that it was not all they would discuss.

Peak Information

You need to find, read and circulate a Department of Energy sponsored report from 2005 titled - "Peaking of World Oil Production". It's all in there. There's a 3 page Executive Summary in the front for those with short attention spans. I'm on a mission to get my CA Senators to convene public hearings to discuss this document. Instead we're likely to get more Tax Holidays and Rebate Checks. Good luck to us all.

Hirsch Report

I've read the report (and just re-read the executive summary). It is very informative, well thought-out, and well-written. But it is quite long and its intended audience is policy makers, so many people I have showed the report to rapidly lose interest in reading it. Mine is for a very targeted audience of people who are not activists, many of whom don't follow what's going on in the world that closely, but whom I care about (I have expanded the intended audience and sent it to members of my family.) So no one sees any big factual errors, mis-analysis, or conceptual errors ?

"Peaking of World Oil Production" aka Hirsch Report

The document Steve refers to is probably better known as "The Hirsch Report" in Peak Oil circles. IMHO, it should be required reading by PCI members, and anyone in the land planning/transportation development fields. Oh, and politicians could probably benefit from reading it too! Cheers, Jim Z.
