I know that my garden is going to produce more than I can use this year and I was thinking of starting some kind of garden exchange where people can bring things from their garden to trade with other people. It would give people a chance to try different veggies and to trade gardening stories and tips. The idea is still pretty loose, so any suggestions that anyone has would be totaly welcome!

Food trade
Sounds like a great idea. there are a number of ways to go. Fernie has a Mountain Market every week during the summer and fall at the Rotary Park. I think Dawn Deydey is one of the coordinators (A4LL@fernie.com). Perhaps a meetup area and time could be established where people can exchange food between themselves. I think a garden labour network would be a great idea too for those bigger jobs too.
Share the work/ Share the produce/ Have more fun!
If you need a hand with anything let me know and you can pay in seedlings!

Neighbourgardens
Another great idea. Sounds like it could be it's own project.
I anticipate more great ideas like this will be coming up. I've thought for a while the A4LL will soon need to form subgroups to focus on the different themes of Localization, identifying opportunities and organize action. Food production is definitely one of them. From our screening of the film "The Future of Food" it's obvious there is lot's of interest in the community.
