Lobbying The City Government to Join The Puget Sound Clean Cities Coalition

Hi Folks, I am new here. My name is Roderick Wilde and I am the Director of Port Townsend based Citizens for Rideable Communities (CRC), www.rideablecommunities.org. I would like to see if there is any interest in lobbying the local City government to become a member of The Puget Sound Clean Cities Coalition, www.pugetsoundcleancities.org. For those of you not familar with this organization here is their statement from their home page: "The Puget Sound Clean Cities Coalition (PSCCC) is a voluntary, public/private partnership that works to advance the region's environmental and public health, energy security and economic development by promoting policies and practices that reduce petroleum consumption in transportation." I am sure that many of you who are reading this are currently using petroleum products in their daily life. There will come a time when you will not be able to afford to have many of these things in your life. I personally feel this is a very good organization to support. So far Seattle, Kirkland, Olympia, Tacoma, Lacey and Everett are members as well as Jefferson County Transit. I would love to hear your thoughts. We at CRC just joined.

Welcome to Local 20/20

Hello Roderick, Thank you for your post, I find your information quite interesting.  Our next community meeting is tomorrow, May 26 from noon-2:00 at the Masonic Hall in Port Townsend.  It would be great if you could join us to further this discussion in person.  If that doesn't work for you, we'll make sure that someone on our Transportation Action Group gets in touch with you soon to pursue this idea.  In the meantime, please keep the information flowing!  -Deborah
