Green Thumb Kids

Group manager: Frances Oommen

Hi!
On June 17 2006, 44 kids came to the Cape Breton Farmers Market, in Sydney, Nova Scotia to hear about how to grow beans and tomatos.
Michelle Smith, (Heritage Seed Farmer) talked about heritage seeds, and how to care for vegetable plants.
Charles Macdonald invited the children to come back and sell their harvest of beans and tomatos as vendors at the Farmers Market - and make some money!
The kids went home with a Heritage tomato plant and Heritage beans to grow at home.
(The Iannetti pole beans were brought from Britolli, Italy in 1902, by the Iannetti family, who moved to Sydney Mines.),
How is your tomato plant doing? Did you put a stick to support the stem? Have your beans come up to see the light yet?
You can make a personal blog and talk about how your vegetables are coming along.
