I just received an email from one of our members in our group asking where to from here?
I found it and intriguing question. I know from experience that if you don't pedal the bicycle hard you are not going to get very far in life. We have had our wonderful speaker's series at the Henry Miller Memorial Library all summer. We broke into groups last meeting with Richard Heinberg and Benjamin Faher, to get our community into action. Energy Groups, Food Groups, etc. Folks just don't want to commit time to attend meetings. It was fun this past summer to get an education, under the redwoods with free food and drinks, but it seems to be a bit of a stretch to get together with a schedual!
So, why get together at all? Maybe you can communicate over the internet via email or through this website, or by phone. Lets be inventive, we can create our own way of being in groups. We can even meet at the Bakery with a cup of tea and a scone, or at the beach at sunset. It is a wonderful opportunity to connect with people from our own community and grow this project of being off the grid and fully self sustaining as a community. I feel empowered by our summer's events and am now assisting the Monterey Group as well in their efforts. I invite you to just jump in off the deep end! I will see you there!

Some Resources
I wish that Shelby and I were a little closer to the Local Groups, so that we could meet for tea and a scone at a local bakery. The question of "what now?" is a question on most group member’s lips. I wish I had a step by step formula that I could hand out in a snazzy package that said "Don't Panic" in big shiny friendly letters. Unfortunately, there is no such document. Not yet anyways . . . .
We do want to start collecting resources, project ideas and experiences in a comprehensive toolkit for new Local Groups to help them get started. It will be a while, however, until this is completed. In the interim we have posted our Action Handbook and will be posting the more comprehensive project toolkits shortly. These toolkits and the handbook are designed to help your Local Group start thinking about possible project ideas.
Tell us what you think.
