Van. Intl. Film Festival: Documentaries on future of oil resources

This year's Vancouver International Film Festival has a category of documentary films on "Resources of the Future?" At least two films directly address issues related to declining oil resources. Check www.viff.org after Sep 8 to get complete listing and dates.

Oil's dramatic impact on contemporary culture is examined in fascinating depth in Jean-Pierre Beaurenaut and Yves Villon's THE EPIC OF BLACK GOLD (France), a four-part series that looks at our well-oiled past and uncertain future.
Basil Gelpke, Ray McCormack and Reto Caduff's profoundly shocking documentary A CRUDE AWAKENING: THE OIL CRASH (Switzerland) is a timely look at the "most important public policy issue of our time" - the looming oil crisis and what life will be like when we must give up “the bloodstream of the world economy.”
