Better Transit, Not freeways

A Message From SPEC

Traffic Jam! A Celebration and Free-School for Better Transit, Not Freeways. Sunday Sept 10 Woodland Park (on the Adanac Bikeway just west of Commercial Drive)

Our region is at a transportation crossroads. We are faced with the Provincial Government's plan to twin the Port Mann Bridge and expand Highway #1- a scheme that will cost billions of public dollars and still won't eliminate congestion on our roads while at the same time will worsen local air quality and climate change pollution. Our other choice is to continue down the healthy cities path that Greater Vancouver is known for the world over. Solutions to transportation problems in our region exist and not only are they smarter and cleaner but they are cheaper and can be implemented faster. The Province is trying to force their freeway expansion plan on our region, it is up to us to work for a better way!

Join us for Traffic Jam! Celebrate healthy communities, meet other people with similar concerns from around the region, learn more about what is happening and learn skills to stop freeway expansion.
