Bad news is that the BD co-op that was running at Willow Springs folded last fall due to low participation/high BD fuel costs. It was really good stuff, that BD100.
The good news is that Truckee Biofuels was the source of the fuel and they're still around. They're willing to do local bulk deliveries if you have storage tanks. I don't have storage tanks, but would be willing to go in on a bulk buy if someone up on the Ridge or Nevada City has storage capacity. Contact me privately if you're interested.
Sunfuels LLC provides biodiesel and ethanol produced by US farmers. They deliver bulk amounts of 250 gallons or more to your home or business. There are coop site hosts being organized now for filling your vehicle and containers. In N. San Juan the Coop is at Willow Springs, the home of Extracycle. They sell fuel on Thursdays from 3:00 to 6:00 pm. Sunfuels hopes to have a biofuel coop in Grass Valley soon. For information, contact Carson Blanton at carson@fsaccess.net or phone 292-9288.
Just the info I was looking for Janaia. I'll go check out the Willow Springs Coop which is right up the road next week and send an email to Carson in the meantime.

Find out about local Pc and Relocalization happening in the Sierra Nevada bioregion!
Hi Sandra
What a small world! Even on the net. I don't know of the generator or the fuel. I am at the beginning of the road on researching. I want an alternative to gas...so I am thinking about biodiesel for fueling my transportation. Feel free tio email me. I will try to let you know of local contacts. I've hear that someone on teh ridge makes biodieel. Let me know if you find contacts.
Best of Luck!
Stacy
I would strongly urge anyone seeking to increase their use of biodiesel to google for the words :
"Deforestation Palm Oil Biodeisel"
and also to consider carefully to what extent arable land should be given over to liquid fuel production,
in light both of climate destabilization of agriculture & of burgeoning population,
beside the soil and aquifer depletion & pollution due to agribusiness biofuel crop production.
If you don't do so now, I think you're liable to end up asking how many childrens' lives you're pouring into the fuel tank of your machine.
The Cindarella Option, that of Sustainable Forestry for Methanol production, is quite another matter.
It involves the widespread re-forestation of non-arable hill lands, for the (necessarily) local production of methanol (CH3OH),
which is suitable for ICE engines, Gas Turbines, Stirlings and Fuel Cells (particularly DMFC - Direct Methanol Fuel Cells).
Methanol (originally known as Wood Alcohol) was first traded in 1683, has been made from fossil oil & gas since 1920,
and offers a key use for "stranded gas" reserves (that are too small or remote to be worth piping out).
Thus methanol potentially offers a seamless transition from the best of the fossil fuels (natural gas) to dependence on sustainable forestry.
The sheer range of incidental benefits of this commercial justification of sustainable forestry
form a clear example of the Permaculture principle of seeking multiple benign yields from any development.
Regards,
Lewis
I have a question. Why Trees? Why not Hemp? Actually that is two questions. Trees take decades to grow to a viable size, hemp you can get a crop every year, sometimes more in certain areas of the world. It takes very little water, resists bugs and weeds( being a weed it'self) and grows on poor land where you would not get other crops to grow. See my blog at http://myhemp.blogspot.com
