Power the future
A group consisting of the Chamber, the City of Cornwall, the St. Lawrence River Institute of Environmental Sciences, Ontario Power Generation, Cornwall Electric, along with a number of private sector firms has come together to present this major Energy Forum.
The event’s focus will be on energy and energy innovation and conservation with a view to showcasing the community as a leader in the field. A principal outcome will be to present Cornwall as a energy leader for the future and to encourage economic development specific to that sector. A secondary outcome will be to inform and educate the public as to the available products and services that can enhance household energy efficiency and reduce costs.
Event Summary
Power the Future will be a three day event tentatively scheduled from Thursday, April 12 until Saturday, April 14. It will be launched Thursday evening with a professional business mixer at an energy focused location, to be finalized.
Friday will be an all day session beginning with a breakfast and event-launching speaker followed by a series of topical and business/industry focused workshops (note: subject material will be applied and outcome based). The luncheon will include a special keynote speaker and the partnership has succeeded in securing one of Canada's most renowned environmental scientists. As part of the day, we are planning a secondary school competition and in conjunction with Queen’s University, plan to have a secondary school students competition during which the teams will build a solar powered device.
Saturday will be the consumer trade show and an anticipated 3000 people from throughout Cornwall and the United Counties will visit the show.
