Please join us for a movie showing of "The Power of Community, How Cuba Survived Peak Oil" at the Carmel Valley Community Chapel Fellowship Hall on Thursday evening, October 19th at 7:00 PM, in Carmel Villiage. It is free and open to the public.
“SMC,” was formed a year ago. During the past year a number of public meetings have been held, regular newsletters published and contacts made with various organizations concerned about the end of cheap energy. Interests groups have been establish in Pacific Grove and Big Sur where programs have been established pursuing plans to help the citizens and engage local officials, businesses and institutions in the need to work and plan together for the well-being—and sustainability—of their communities. It is the hope of “SMC” to help form additional groups in many places in Monterey County, including Carmel Valley.
At the upcoming Carmel Valley meeting, representatives of Sustainable Monterey County will introduce themselves, the movie will be shown, a discussion will follow and you will have a chance to raise questions and give your suggestions on how you would like to move forward to help prepare the people of Carmel Valley to live cooperatively and in sustainable ways. All indications seem to be saying that the upcoming era will be one of no more cheap energy and increasing environmental hazards.
