One of the quiet ways that citizens show they care is to just do it, just get out and do something for no personal gain. Well, Ed has been organizing the Aldershot Cleanup day for several years running. He shows up with the gloves and bags and the sign (he's holding in the picture) and helps people find a way to feel good about themselves and their town.
I would guess there were about a dozen people in total who came out for a couple of hours on this fall afternoon. We picked up about 10 bags of trash along Plains Rd by the Zellers, Tim's and Canadian Tire.
I can tell you, Tim Horton coffee cups are the #1 trash item on our streets. We had oodles of them, followed by plastic water bottles and cig packs. Now what does that tell you?
