Ten members and growing! CBLETS is up and running

Over the summer we had three meetings and then launched our Cape Breton LETS group. LETS stands for Local Exchange and Trading System. Our members decided that we would use Cape Breton Hours as our currency, rather than Green Dollars, as this is more respectful as it treats people the same. ( ie a person who earns a minimum wage will get paid the same as a professional, - for their hours of work). We have 10 signed-up members and a directory.

We have had an information table set up for a month or two at the Cape Breton Farmers Market, and it is hoped that a few vendors will consider using CB Hours soon...... The general public, especially students and young adults, appear to be very interested. Some people have already begun trading and bartering amongst themselves.

There is going to be a potluck social on Saturday November 4. As people get to know each other, they will feel more comfortable about doing things for each other....

CB LETS is definitely needed as an alternative to the mighty dollar which is sure to tank....sooner or later......
