Hello!
I have been composting humanure in my sun-mar toilet for about 7 years. I recently moved out CA and wasn't able to bring the toilet out. I am currently renting a house with a back yard, but will only compost humanure outdoors if I can procure a critter-free bin (we also have 2 dogs). I was not able to bring out my "Earth Machine" sealed compost bin either. This method is also currently less desirable because we will be moving in a few months.
We are vermicomposting inside, but I am curious about some way of composting humanure in our present situation. I could find no mention of composting humanure with worms in the Humanure Handbook. I don't think there would be a problem, as long as there is enough carbon and other kitchen scraps with it. Any ideas? Thanks.
Namaste,
Shawn

human poo and worms
G'day,
It is my understanding that human poo goes best with worms if you are vegetarian/vegan...they don't like the meaty poo very much. Pet poo is also not too good unless your dogs are veggie...whilst it might decompost eventually, you could slow down the rate of the worms' decomposing ability.
That said, apparently pet hair is ok...any info on this, anyone?
Cheers,
Clive
