“Oil. Peak Oil - That Is”
The speaker, Stuart Ramsey is a transportation engineer and planner with 20 years of experience, spanning all major modes of transportation. Stuart's experience is primarily in long-range transportation planning and modeling, but also encompasses transportation demand management, cycling, and transit.
Stuart's presentation will focus on urban transportation strategies for addressing the challenges of peak oil and climate change. These are issues that will require changes, on an unprecedented scale, to how we produce and consume energy. Peak Oil is an influential theory concerning the long-term rate of extraction and depletion of conventional oil and other fossil fuels. It predicts that future world oil production will soon reach a peak and then rapidly decline. The actual peak year will only be known after it has passed.
This is the next Sustainability Community Breakfast and will take place Thursday, January 11th, 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at the Canada Export Centre, 602 West Hastings Street.
