Statement of Intent
One of the biggest limitations to environmental activism is that so often it operates from within an “us vs. them” paradigm. Environmentalists often believe that they have an enemy who they must battle with in order to create change. The problem with this approach is that if we attack an issue or problem with the mentality that it is our enemy, we will inevitably be met with defensiveness or even aggressiveness but rarely cooperation. However, if we act with compassion to try to educate people why changes need to occur rather than attempt to change their habits and lifestyles than perhaps they will be better equipped to make the right choices for themselves, without a battle. The Relocalization Group of Loveland hopes to provide that information for why changes need to occur and show people the possible benefits of a more localized community. We are at a point now when green strategies are proving to be not only ecologically friendly but socially and even economically beneficial too. Our mission is to help people realize this and in the future provide a means of actualizing potential ideas.
