Peak Oil and Community Life in California: A Public Policy Seminar (UCSC)

“Peak Oil and Community Life in California: A Public Policy Seminar,” set for March 24th, 2007, sponsored by the Arts & Humanities division of the University of California Extension, Santa Cruz. It is a one-day event, held in Sunnyvale, California from 10 am to 4 pm, and is a 0.5 CEU class, open to the public with a registration fee of $150. Currently Richard Heinberg is the Keynote and other speakers include: Shyamm Shabaka from the EcoVillage from Richmond, CA , Ben Crow UCSC Professor, Aaron Lehmer and Ingrid Severson from Bay Localize, Jason Bradford from Willits Economic Localization, Larry Robinson Mayor of Sebastopol and Deborah Lindsay from Sustainable Monterey County, Kelley Rajala from The Livability Project, Larry Santoyo from EarthFlow Designs, and Julian Darley from Post Carbon Institute.

In this seminar, we will focus on the question: How can we mobilize our better selves, individually and collectively, as we and our children adapt to this emerging reality? Our aim: to apprehend the nature of this crisis; to explore its multiple meanings for our culture; and to identify ways of working that launch a multi-generational processes of positive change.
