We are forming links with many groups who are already active in addressing issues of climate change and peak oil at grass roots through the region and we will work with them, support and promote their efforts and act as a resource to them, as well as getting out into the community and provoking thought and action among community groups and individual citizens

A Greater Sydney Region that has built up its resilience as a community which, through its ingenuity and cooperation, is effectively dealing with the challenges of climate change, fossil energy depletion, carbon emission reduction and food & water security issues.

A working partnership between communities and local governments exists in every shire and municipality in the Greater Sydney Region and documented Energy Descent Action Plans (Transition Plans) have been created and are being put into effect.

The measure of our progress toward our ultimate goal will be the number of local communities and councils that have created a plan and are working on it.

1. Identify, consult with and engage with existing local and regional community organisations and resources


2. Engage with local councils across the region to enlist their involvement and support


3. Conduct public events in local communities to bring citizens, community groups and councils together to learn about the challenges and impacts of peak oil, climate uncertainty & energy depletion and about local solutions that can be employed.


4. Provide ongoing information, encouragement, resources and support to all collaborations that begin transition initiatives.


5. Link “transitioning” communities with similar communities within the Region, within Australia and in other parts of the world for mutual support, sharing and learning.
