Most folks who are aware of peak oil are also aware that the surge in population the oil age brought is a big part of the challenges that face us.
However, it is difficult to explain to proponents of perpetual "growth" why it can't (and shouldn't) continue.
Attached is a chart that shows the relationship with population and oil.
Perhaps some will find it useful when engaged in discussions regarding resource depletion issues and economic growth.

oil and population
the makers of these curves have no problem showing the production of oil after the peak.But they are reluctant to show the population after the peak.I think it is a form of denial.Lets just face it,the population curve is going to follow the production curve on down.we are still in the early stages of this disaster where people still think there is something they can do to delay or even avert it.The only solution is to get out of the way .
