Thank you to all those who attended and contributed ideas and energy to create my beautiful new back garden. Also to the washing up committee, much appreciated. Many thanks to Andi for such great promotion of the event and Dean for his practical skills. Fantastic photos also Andi!
Thank you to Camreay Holdings for donating compost for the fruit trees and to Kookabuura Worm Farms for the bags of worm castings that will be so benefical for building up my soil.
Today, I have tested the water feed to the banana circle and it works a treat!
The chickens have laid an egg each and the worm farm is busy.
Who's next? My gloves are ready.

re: Permablitz 1. Many thanks.
Carol, I'm glad you're pleased with the results of the day- that's the most important thing! I think the feedback we received was really important too:
1. Do 30 minutes of "theory" on all of the day's activities, at the start of the day. Also, make sure to say "8:30 arrival for 9am start" to ensure all participants arrive on time and get all the info they need!
2. Somehow mark each activity spot so people know where mulch is to be laid, where the banana circle goes, where the trees are to be planted, etc. (I strongly suggest we use something nontoxic as opposed to spray paint or similar)
3. Have a step by step "how to" sheet on display at each activity spot around the yard so people can be a bit more autonomous when it comes to working on each project.
4. The day after the permablitz, another friend of ours suggested having people participate in 2 or 3 'blitzes before they can sign up to host one - this ensures everyone gains some experience, gets the benefits and lends a hand equitably! I think this is a great idea, and a good way to determine where to 'blitz next. I suggest we hold Permablitz #2 at the garden of someone who attended on Sunday, and follow on from there. Any takers??

re: Permablitz 1. Many thanks.
A group of us have just returned from our field trip to the Future Ready Sustainability Expo on the Sunshine Coast - look for photos and recaps of that coming soon! Upon arriving home I learned that our permablitz was featured on ABC Wide Bay's website - see here - and on the Permablitz website - see here. And if you missed us on TV, see here! Can't wait for the next Permablitz.
