I wanted to let WCPO members know about an on-line petition which I'll be sending to the Washington County Board of Commissioners, asking them to commit to reducing greenhouse emissions from our communities. I am a student at Pacific University in Forest Grove, and worked with WCPO to organize a screening of "A Crude Awakening" at the University, followed by a panel discussion about how local governments can cut our dependence on fossil fuels. I would now like to prompt members of the Board of Commissioners to make the strategies discussed at that event into reality, by sending them this petition. I hope to send it to the Board sometime in the next few weeks; so far the petition has over 100 signatures from county residents, but we need even more.
