Local Action for a Sustainable Tomorrow

Are any LAST members or other individuals interested in participating in Step It Up 2007 this Saturday?
There is not an event scheduled in our area so we would have to come up with something and be the host. In looking at other groups' activities, it doesn't have to be long, 2-3 hours.
Maybe a potluck of local foods and barbeque? Email me if interested. If we don't have enough interest, it won't take place.

Hello, and welcome to the headquarters of Step It Up 2007!

This is our organizing hub for a National Day of Climate Action--November 3rd, 2007.

On April 14, 2007, a citizen's movement was launched. On November 3rd we'll see which of our politicians will join us in taking on the greatest challenge of our time.

We'll gather at places across the country named after historic leaders to demand that our representatives address three key priorities to stop global warming.

It will be a historic day in every way.

Step It Up has joined forces with the bold new 1 Sky initiative, a project that includes the comprehensive science-based priorities necessary to overcome the crisis we face and realize the immense opportunities of our time:

5 MILLION GREEN JOBS CONSERVING 20% OF OUR ENERGY BY 2015

CUT CARBON 80% BY 2050
FREEZE CLIMATE POLLUTION LEVELS NOW AND CUT AT LEAST 80% BY 2050 AND
30% BY 2020

NO NEW COAL
A MORATORIUM ON NEW COAL-FIRED POWER PLANTS
