Post Carbon London is holding another informal coffee meeting on Monday April 30, 7:30 pm
For this meeting Post Carbon London welcomes John Wilson, an organic farmer over the past 15 years in London Township just outside of Hyde Park. John is an engineer who took over the family farm which offers a variety of vegetables available in season. He is well known within the environmental community.
John will share with us some of his insights on local and broader organic markets, the value of going organic and the challenges, the costs of energy involved in running an organic farm and the vulnerabilities of being in a prime belt earmarked for local urban sprawl.
As a champion for progressive environmental farming, John looks to leave a small footprint for his children and generations to come. His teaming up with UWO's engineering department and the Ivey Business School to create a photovoltaic farm with farmland dedicating solar modules for the purpose of selling power back to the grid is being planned to establish 4 acres to this project.
John will have a number of slides on organic farming and looks forward to questions and discussion on organic practices.
This is a chance to come out and meet other people in London & area who are concerned about energy related issues and want to learn more, share ideas and work together.
This is an informal meeting open for anyone to attend.
