Posting Content & Assigning An Audience
This guide will show you how to create your own content, post it and assign it to a group (or audience). First, make sure you are logged in, then hover over the Create Content link in the User Menu on the right hand side, anothermenu will appear with a list of content types to create. You won't have all the content types in the images below, but Blog Entry should be at thetop, selectthat.
Once you have clicked on the Create Content --> Blog Entry, you will be brought to the Submit Blog Entry page pictured below: The Submit Blog Entry page, by default will give you an HTML based editor that requires some basic know-how of HTML tags. You can enter the WYSIWYG editor, which is a lot like using Microsoft Word, by clicking on the enable rich text link at the bottom of the Body field. You can switch back to the html editor by clicking the disable rich text link in the same place.
Many functions that you may be used to, such as linking, colors and tables can be used with the icons in the editor. To link text, highlight the text you want to link and click on the chain icon in the upper right of the editor. A new box will pop up that allows you to input a link url and specify if you want your link to spawn in your current browser window or if you'd like it to spawn a new window and keep your current page. For a full tutorial on uploading pictures to use with your posts, visit this link.
Once you have typed the body of your message, the first box you'll encounter is the Audience box, from here you can select what group will see your post. To select multiple groups; click on a group, then hold CTRL and click on any additional groups you'd like to add.
Once you have highlighted your desired groups, it's time to finalize your entry. The Log Message box is there for you to input any notes about this specific post that only the author of the entry can see. This box is optional and is not required to make an entry. At the end of the entry page there is the option to Preview your post, this is very good practice and will show you what your post will look like when it is submitted, without actually making the submission.
There are several variables you can set regarding who can comment, where your entry is published and what, if any files would you like to include in the entry. These options are fairly straight forward and will not be covered in this document.
