Exploring Relocalization Net and Sustainable Bellingham.
Comparing to other social local networks like facebook and myspace and tribenet.
Comparing useage of site space for flexiblity of designing pages & photos, privacy, spam, quality of users and groups, distractability of ads, and who owns the site, and how fees/income is made to manage site.
Interested in others observations on other social network sites as to quality sites that are stable and not owned by big corportations for purposes of growing network through advertising or gathering users personal data.

Online Local Networking
Hi Dave, I received your email. Thanks for reponding and admiting me to the group.
Since I see no responses here, I'm wondering how often folks are using the site for networking, and passing the news on different local events.
Thanks!

Welcome to the Network
Relocalize,
Welcome to the Sustainable Bellingham group. Interesting that you posted this in the Orcas Island blog. If you want us to be able to contact you to interact, be sure to turn on the allowing of contact in your personal info.
Do you live near Bellingham?
This site is not just a social networking site, but geared toward those who are taking an active interest in Relocalizing our community.
As said on the "What is Relocalization" page:
"Relocalization is a strategy to build societies based on the local
production of food, energy and goods, and the local development of
currency, governance and culture. The main goals of Relocalization are
to increase community energy security, to strengthen local economies,
and to dramatically improve environmental conditions and social equity.
The Relocalization strategy developed in response to the
environmental, social, political and economic impacts of global
over-reliance on cheap energy. Our dependence on cheap non-renewable
fossil fuel energy has produced climate change, the erosion of
community, wars for oil-rich land and the instability of
the global economic system.
The Relocalization Network helps Local Groups develop community
activities and programs that can be used locally and as working models
for other communities when the effects of energy decline become more
intense."

Log Off Box Location
Dave, Is there a log off box on the site?
I logged in with a password, but don't see the log off box anywhere near the top of my site or at the bottom. Does the site automatically log you off when you close the window?
Thanks for the guidance.
