Our vision

For the Sunshine Coast Energy Action Centre to become a leading international example of community-led solutions to regional energy descent preparedness, community co-operation and social restructuring for a better world for future generations.

Our objectives

1. To educate the community about the impact of climate change and peak oil and regional solutions
2. To generate, implement and facilitate community driven ongoing Regional Energy Descent Action Plans, shire by shire.
3. To create a Community Sustainability Library & Resource Centre within SEAC
4. To encourage and support the development of local community action groups
5. To develop and foster key partnerships and networking opportunities within the region that support energy descent action planning
6. To actively encourage home food production and the relocalisation of our food supply by supporting: permaculture-based education, local organic growers, farmer’s markets, and Community Supported Agriculture subscription schemes
7. To actively encourage and engage in the preservation of bio diversity in seeds, skills and culture
8. To expand the network of community gardens across the region
9. To support the introduction of permaculture and sustainability education into all school curriculums on the Sunshine Coast
10. To create partnerships that further sustainability education and increase permaculture employment opportunities
11. To lobby for local and state legislation specific to Peak Oil, Energy Descent and Climate Change
12. To build a fully sustainable Regional Energy Action Education Centre
13. To ensure the Sunshine Coast Energy Action Centre becomes a benchmark model of solutions and successful regional engagement in response to energy adaptation that can be replicated throughout Australia and around the world.

The heart and soul of SEAC, our small team of dedicated volunteers are the people-power driving this project forward and out into the community. We are proud to have a wonderful network of supporters and contributors from the community who help ensure SEAC stays relevant, active and most importantly useful!
