Sustainable Sacramento

Sustainable Sacramento Symposium was held Saturday May 31st
at the California EPA building the first LEED Platinum building in Sacramento . Moderated by SPAN member Doug Grandt and hosted by SPAN members Shaina and Ming the event was a rousing success. Daniel Solnit gave a great overview of current global warming, peak oil and financial crisis situations. Solutions and hopeful scenarios were presented along with a call to localize for a brighter tomorrow.
APPLE coordinator Tom Brundy gave an enlightening update of what a
small group can do in a small town when effort towards a common goal is applied. Sacramento city enviornmental engineer and SMUD director were on the local update forum giving an upbeat assessment of the present and future Sacramento energy enviornment. A vegan lunch was warmly welcomed with the entertaining antics of talented actors from Sustainable Sacramento. It was an extremely well received event and we are all looking forward to the next event.
