My Name is David Karabelnikoff I am Aleut and Athabaskan – The Indigenous Peoples of Alaska. The Chugiak foothills of South Central Alaska – was the place where I was raised. I have been in contact and developing a network aimed at very similar goals, I spoke with my brother who is a web site and IT solutions guy. He told me about a freeware network management program that is aimed at keeping contacts of people whom support the cause I thought it might be of interest to your project.

I believe that of the similar successful local based programs the Campus Climate Challenge has done well in their marketing and promotional efforts. I also believe that the students whom have devoted themselves to gaining carbon limits established at their campuses it seems the logical next progression to move into relocalization efforts. I believe that students whom have been involved with the campus climate challenge would be exceptional persons to work with in the years to come as still in the University and College systems mostly undergrad they will have contact with many students and able to spread information quickly.

Of the networks I have seen Americans for Informed Democracy does have in many ways the best comprehensive and time saving package for putting on events, their process for establishing groups, getting out information about town hall meetings is one of the best that I have come to see.

There info is available at www.aidemocracy.org

I’ve been hoping to develop a office space at the smiley building here in Durango, there site is www.smileybuilding.com I believe that they would be the best focal point for establishing a community organization here in Durango, ss they are well underway with the sustainability and relocalization efforts.

I have been unable to find a link for Native Nation Sustainable Alliance.

Native Movement – Nativemovement.org is an excellent organization founded my Evon Peter a modern day Indigenous people’s Hero in my book, his quote “No movement in History has been successful without the involvement if the youth” Is probably the reason why I am taking the time to encourage your network to integrate as many young people as possible as it would be a tragedy that the generations these efforts where being made for where not involved in the implementation of this project. I firmly believe that many of the problems we are going to be facing are a direct result of the exclusion of young peoples from decision-making processes. In order for this change to be effective it should have the continual involvement of young people. Campus Climate Challenge is also in High schools my feelings are the younger the better.

I believe that tribes are communities that are small enough to effect change,. They also have the greatest to loose in terms of cultural integrity, community identity and even continued existence as Indigenous peoples. If the exploitation of Native Lands continues; as the traditional peoples whom are against much of these development are pushed further and further from having a place for existence in this world when these corporate exploitations occur.

Native Communities Tonight are being disrupted by the global economic forces that thrive on the paradigm that labor is cheep and resources are abundant. I believe that they are in need of support from as many people from places near and far in order to defeat the goliath that wished to profit off the exploitation of natural resources on the Navajo Nation.
