Energy Descent Action Planning course

Act now on climate change & peak oil

It’s Time for an Oil Change…

Interested in making a real difference in your local area?

A new course has been created that explores how we can plan and prepare action strategies for climate change and peak oil at a regional level.

This Australian first course covers; regional food production and supply, infrastructure, the built environment, waste, water and energy management, transportation, health, employment, economics and community governance as we prepare and plan for a future using less fossil fuels.

The ‘Time for an Oil Change’ course is based on David Holmgren’s text; Permaculture: Principles & Pathways Beyond Sustainability.

Richard Heinberg's texts Powerdown and the Oil Depletion Protocol will also be used as a reference.

Students will develop the start of the first Sunshine Coast Energy Descent Action Plan.

The trial course starts July 28 with a full day introductory workshop and then, for the next ten weeks, will continue every Saturday between 11am and 4pm at the Sunshine Coast Energy Action Centre at Yandina [August 4-October 6].

Together we will formulate practical and useful solutions to climate change and energy descent for delivery to Maroochy Shire Council and State Government for implementation.

A small group of students will begin this important process as part of this trial course. If you are interested in being part of the ‘Time for an Oil Change’ trial course or would like a more detailed course outline, please contact the coordinator of this site.
